Following are comments from a variety of customers who use both standard and custom Puritan products. We would welcome comments and suggestions from you!

Remel, Inc. of Lenexa, Kansas, is a manufacturer of microbiology products, including diagnostic kits.

Recently they acquired a major new account, for which they needed a large supply of specialty swabs. At the time, the only available vendor for specialized swabs used a manual production system, and could not meet Remel’s accelerated volume. So Remel came to Puritan.

"Puritan didn't have these swabs in stock either," says Susan Snead,
Tube Production Manager of Remel, Inc. "And their process for making them was outside their routine. But they changed and upgraded their procedures to deliver the swabs we required," says Snead.

"And they provided working samples all along the way. They were more than willing to help and to give us all the information on materials and on the new production system that we requested in order to meet our strict qualifications. It was a very demanding process that stretched over several months time.

"But today we have all the special swabs we need, and it's because Hardwood employed a new manufacturing approach to accommodate us."

Fitzco Corporation, of Maple Plain, MN supplies security products, evidence packaging, and customized kits. They market these to law enforcement agencies for highly specialized forensics use.

The company uses Puritan swabs in their packages and kits. June Fitz, President of Fitzco Corporation, explains why the swabs are so useful.

“Now that the smallest DNA samples can be collected from virtually any surface, from the inside of the cheek to a desktop or piece of paper, the procedure for collecting and verifying DNA specimens has resulted in more sophisticated and accurate results than the blood testing done in the past, and it’s much less invasive.”

“In legal areas such as the parentage industry, for example, the less invasive approach made possible by using swabs has been a boon, eliminating the need for pricking and drawing blood samples from children as well as adults."

“We just ordered a new type of swab that Puritan made to our specifications. And I have to tell you, the swabs were delivered to us not only in time, but in advance of their due date,” adds Fitz.

“Quality and reliability are critical issues in the forensics area of law enforcement. We are very pleased with our relationship with Puritan, and know we can count on them to meet all our expectations.”

Quidel Corporation develops, manufactures and markets rapid diagnostic tests for the detection of medical conditions and illnesses for use at the point-of-care.

“We’ve been buying Puritan products going on thirteen years. They make all our swabs for us and we buy from their standard lines in addition to the highly specialized swabs they customize to our specifications. These particular swabs are very difficult to make and Puritan makes them well.

“When we had the opportunity to land a huge order for a diagnostic flu product last year, they compressed their usual lead time down to five [weeks] to accommodate the sale. They’re just great people and a solid company to work with.”
Suzanne Cattermole, Purchasing Manager,Quidel Corporation

Gen-Probe produces diagnostic products to test for microorganisms, based on patented DNA probe technology.

"Since we began our partnership with Puritan, they’ve made us feel like they take a personal interest in supporting our account. They custom package several swabs for us and make every effort to meet our needs, and they always do it with a positive attitude."

“They’re just good people to work with and their regional representative is very knowledgeable and helpful.”
